White House to Host First-Ever Creator Economy Conference in August

The White House has announced plans to host the inaugural Creator Economy Conference in August, marking the first-ever event of its kind to take place on the White House campus. The conference aims to bring together digital creators, industry professionals, and senior administration officials to discuss pressing issues within the creator economy.

Christian Tom, the director of digital strategy at the White House, made the announcement during his speech at Vidcon, an annual convention for social media influencers. Tom, who also serves as an assistant to President Joe Biden, highlighted the significance of the creator economy, emphasizing its substantial economic and cultural contributions.

Scheduled for August 14, the conference will delve into topics such as artificial intelligence, fair pay, data privacy, and mental health. Tom expressed the intention to foster a dialogue between digital creators, industry professionals, and senior White House officials, aiming to address the unique needs and concerns of the creator community.

Attendance at the conference will be by invitation only, but digital creators interested in participating can submit an online form available on the White House website. The event aims to provide a platform for creators to voice their perspectives directly to the White House, offering an opportunity for policymakers to gain insights from the community.

In a separate development, the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) recently announced that it will grant credential request access to content creators during the convention. Taking place in Chicago from August 19 to August 22, the convention is expected to formally nominate President Biden as the Democratic Party’s candidate for the 2024 election.

Cayana Mackey-Nance, the DNCC director of digital strategy, emphasized the pivotal role of creators in shaping public opinion and their continued influence in future election cycles. Credentialed creators will receive logistical support and the opportunity to cover the convention, as well as connect with surrogates and VIP attendees.

Matt Hill, the DNCC senior director of communications, highlighted the organization’s commitment to reaching Americans through various content channels and ensuring they are well-informed about the stakes in the upcoming election.
