Taylor Swift Endorses Kamala Harris for President in 2024 Election

Singer Taylor Swift publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as a candidate for the U.S. presidency in the 2024 election. Swift’s endorsement came shortly after Harris concluded her first presidential debate with former President Donald Trump. In a social media post, the 34-year-old singer expressed her support for Harris, stating that she believes Harris fights for the rights and causes she holds dear and described her as a steady-handed and gifted leader.

Swift also commended Harris’s choice of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, stating that she was heartened and impressed by the selection. The Grammy-winning artist emphasized that she had conducted her own research before making her decision and encouraged others to do the same.

Accompanying her endorsement, Swift shared a photo of herself holding a cat and signed off her post with the words “Childless Cat Lady.” This phrase appeared to be a reference to comments made by JD Vance, a Republican candidate for an Ohio Senate seat, in 2021. Walz, in response, praised Swift’s endorsement, describing it as eloquent and courageous.

It is worth noting that Swift had previously endorsed President Joe Biden in the 2020 election and allowed the Biden–Harris campaign to use her song “Only the Young” in an advertisement. Swift explained that she decided to publicly endorse Harris after discovering an Artificial Intelligence-generated fake endorsement of herself allegedly supporting Trump on his website. This incident raised concerns for Swift regarding the spread of misinformation and the dangers of AI.
