LG Uplus and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology Collaborate to Develop AI-Powered University Metaverse Platform

South Korean telecommunications company LG Uplus Corp. has entered into a business agreement with the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) to jointly develop a university metaverse platform utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The partnership aims to combine GIST’s advanced AI capabilities with LG Uplus’s cutting-edge metaverse technology to create an immersive and efficient virtual campus experience.

The collaboration will initially focus on integrating AI technology into LG Uplus’s university-specific metaverse platform, Uverse. Key areas of cooperation include the implementation and operation of an AI-driven metaverse campus, enhancement of its functionalities, and the development of a real-time online lecture platform. LG Uplus plans to establish an AI metaverse campus at GIST within this year, with further plans to enhance its services.

To improve learning efficiency within the metaverse, the collaboration will actively utilize GIST’s AI solutions, such as real-time translation and interpretation for classes. These features will greatly benefit international students, enhancing their learning experience.
