Fantasia International Film Festival Unveils Third Wave of Titles for 2024 Edition

The highly anticipated Fantasia International Film Festival has announced its third wave of titles for its 2024 edition, solidifying its reputation as the biggest genre film festival in North America. With over 125 features and 200 shorts, this year’s lineup promises to captivate audiences with a diverse range of films.

Among the notable selections in the third wave are the psychological horror film “In Our Blood,” directed by Pedro Kos, and the highly buzzed-about horror-thriller “Cuckoo.” Additionally, the festival will honor renowned horror maestro Mike Flanagan with its 2024 Career Achievement award, recognizing his groundbreaking contributions to the genre.

The festival will also feature the world premiere of André Forcier’s “Ababouiné,” which serves as the festival’s official closing film. This darkly comedic masterpiece delves into Quebec’s history during the 1950s, exploring the clash between a rowdy group of kids and the dominant Catholic Church. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Rémy Girard, Gaston Lepage, and Pascale Montpetit.

Other notable titles in the lineup include Steven Kostanski’s “Frankie Freako,” Jackie Chan’s latest film “For a Legend,” and Koji Shiraishi’s “House of Sayuri.” These films, along with many others, promise to deliver thrilling and captivating experiences for festival-goers.

The 28th edition of the Fantasia International Film Festival will take place from July 18th to August 4th in Montreal, Quebec. The festival will be held at various venues, including Concordia Hall, J.A. de Sève cinemas, Cinémathèque Québécoise, Cinéma du Musée, Théâtre Plaza, and BBAM! Gallery.
